Executive Director Rafael Guerrero of the Philippine Council for Aquatic and Marine Research Development said, the summit aims to gather together all fisheries players from the academe, government, non-government and private sector to formulate the road map for research, development and extension for saline tolerant tilapias.
The summit also seeks to document the R,D & E status and gaps on saline tolerant tilapia as well as identify the package of technologies on the said specie for dissemination and promotion., Guerrero said.
The two-day summit is a joint project of the PCAMRD of the Department of Science and Technology and the National Fisheries Research and Development Institute (NFRDI) of the Department of Agriculture.
