Akvaforsk Genetics is currently seeking to recruit a senior geneticist to join their experienced team in Sunndalsøra, Western Norway.

Akvaforsk Genetics is one of the aquaculture industry's leading providers of genetic improvement services. The company has extensive experience from more than 20 large scale selection programmes, covering 15 species of fish and shrimp across Europe, Asia and the Americas. Services span all aspects of applied selection, including programme design, operational procedures, genetic/genomic evaluations, and documentation of genetic gains.

Through its genetics division, Benchmark operates state-of-the-art breeding programmes for salmonids, tilapia and shrimp, with global distribution of improved stock.

The advertised role involves joining the core breeding and genetics group – a highly skilled team of experts in applied selective breeding with members from across the Benchmark genetics division.

Applicants must have a PhD or equivalent in applied genetics (ie animal breeding, genomics, statistics, or other relevant areas) as well as industry experience in quantitative and molecular genetics, data management, and extensive knowledge and understanding of quantitative genetics and its application in livestock or aquaculture species.
