The SSA stand is always a major focal point of the show, forming a hugely popular attraction for visitors keen to sample high quality Scottish seafood. As well as promoting the sea’s harvest, this year the SSA will be highlighting its new training school in Peterhead created to enhance the skills of processors and fishermen and to encourage new entrants into the industry.
The Seafood Training Centre in Farmer’s Lane in Peterhead is already operational and has successfully completed its first courses.
Will Clark, Chairman of the Scottish Seafood Association, said: “The feedback we have from visitors and exhibitors to the Aberdeen Expo is that the Scottish Seafood Association stand is unique and brings something special to the show. It always attracts a large number of visitors.
“This year we will also be using the show to promote our new training centre in Peterhead that has been set up to enhance skills in processing and fishing, and also encourage new entrants to the industry. This has been a major investment by the SSA and it underlines our commitment to support our important sector.”
John Cox, SSA chief executive, said: “We are looking forward tremendously to this year’s Aberdeen expo and meeting with visitors at our popular stand. We will also be proudly promoting our new training centre, which is intended to strengthen the onshore sector and enhance Scotland’s reputation as a world leading supplier of high quality seafood.”
Sharon Boyle of show organiser Mara Media said: “We are thrilled that the Scottish Seafood Association has confirmed its attendance at this year’s Aberdeen Skipper Expo. Their stand is always incredibly popular and visitors particularly enjoy experiencing the taste of the high quality Scottish seafood on offer.”
