Providing the UK fishing community with robust, fit for purpose, hardware solutions for data communications at sea, SuccorfishM2M is installing its SC2, GPRS iVMS system to fishermen still to do so over the forthcoming weeks in order to get them into Welsh waters before the deadline.

The company works closely with fishing experts to develop highly advanced yet cost effective technology tools including iVMS, e-log data communication and fisheries data collection software in order to free up valuable time for fishermen to focus on catching fish.

Fishermen using the SC2 system onboard are ensured of accurate monitoring to within one metre of protected zones and frequent reporting of vessel movement in compliance with EU legislation and conservation objectives within Special Areas of Conservation (SAC). It allows users to ‘open up’ previously ‘closed’ areas of water by providing greater access to fishing grounds.

Tom Rossiter, Head of Marine at Succorfish explained, “Strict guidelines are in place for fishermen operating in Welsh waters and SuccorfishM2M can help vessel operators to be ready in time for the start of the new scallop season. If a vessel does not comply, they will not be allowed to sail and will be required to return to port.

“Our SC2 iVMS system is low cost and easy to use and allows fishermen to provide the authorities with the relevant information instantly and frequently. It is an integral tool for the vast majority and has made a huge difference to the way vessels are now operated.”

Any fishermen wishing to have Succorfish iVMS units installed before the start of the season on 1 November 2014 should contact at Succorfish Head Office on tel: +44 (0) 191 447 6883 or email: marketing@succorfish.com
