The temporary four-month ban was first issued in 2010 as a way to conserve shellfish numbers, said Le Tien Phuong, chairman of the provincial People's Committee, according to VietNamNews.
Only shellfish of at least 55mm to 60mm could be harvested, Mr Phuong said.
Those who broke the law would face a fine of up to VND30 million (US$1,430) and the confiscation of their fishing permits for six months, Mr Phuong said.
