Oman and Viet Nam Discuss Fish Farming Cooperation

OMAN - The Joint Omani-Vietnamese Committee has agreed to enhance economic cooperation, diversify traded goods and explore investment opportunities in the fishing and aquaculture sectors.

In a statement to Oman News Agency (ONA), Dr Al Sunaidy said that both sides discussed the possibility of benefiting from the Vietnamese experience in the field of fish and shrimp farming. He pointed out that a number of experts will visit the Sultanate in the coming period to discuss fish and shrimp farming.

He also pointed out that the trade exchange with Viet Nam is still limited and that both sides will discuss operating a marine shipping route as the first step to have direct routes. Both sides also agreed on enhancing trade delegations exchange.

Dr Al Sunaidy added that the Vietnamese market is one of the potential markets for the Omani industries.

The signing ceremony was attended by Sheikh Sultan bin Saif al- Mahrouqi, the Sultanate's accredited ambassador to the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, Abdul Salam bin Mohammed al-Murshidi, CEO of the State General Reserve Fund, a number of directors general from the public and private sectors and members of the Vietnamese delegation.
