Foodsize catfish feed delivered totaled 33,567 tons, down 14 per cent from the corresponding month a year ago. Feed delivered for fingerlings and broodfish totaled 2,198 tons, up 62 per cent from the corresponding month a year ago.
October feed delivered to Mississippi catfish growers for foodsize fish totaled 15,488 tons, down 13 per cent from last year. Mississippi accounted for 46 per cent of the total foodsize catfish feed delivered to US. farmers.
The other major States with catfish feed deliveries for foodsize fish in October and their comparison to the previous year were Alabama with 10,298 tons, down 29 per cent; Arkansas with 3,132 tons, up seven per cent; and Louisiana with 136 tons, up 17 per cent.
October 2010 Catfish Feed Deliveries Down
US - Total catfish feed delivered in the United States during October was 35,765 tons, down 11 per cent from October 2009 and down 57 per cent from the previous month.
