Multinational feed additives producer Nutriad launches an innovative app to support producers in making the right decisions as far as mycotoxin management is concerned.
Various systems for rapid detection of different mycotoxins are commercially available. All of them are suitable for quick and sensitive screening of raw materials before they enter the feed mill. Once mycotoxins levels are evaluated in all ingredients, contamination level of feed can be estimated. This allows the precise calculation of mycotoxin deactivator or binder needed. States Nutriad CEO Erik Visser: “The benefits of rapid screening methods are generally lower costs, faster results, less technical requirements, portability and more rapid throughput of large numbers of samples. Whilst these rapid techniques allow for good analyses, most of them are specific for one certain mycotoxin only which significantly limits their application.”
Adds Radka Borutova, Nutriad BD Mycotoxin Management, “Although it is important to know what the real level of mycotoxin contamination is at any given moment, this is not the only requirement for producers. For complete and comprehensive mycotoxin management, results of mycotoxin analyses need to be translated into recommendations on proper dosage of mycotoxin deactivators.”
Linking the mycotoxin challenge to instant recommendations on usage and dosage of mycotoxin deactivators is a challenging assignment. As the first company ever Nutriad proves to be up for the task as it launches the web application MYCOMAN®, which is currently available online for iOS-Apple and Android-Google-Microsoft.
Mycotoxin risk assessment is the scientific evaluation of the probability of the occurrence of known or potential adverse health effects resulting from animal exposure to mycotoxins. MYCOMAN® can be used as a management tool for complete mycotoxin hazard assessment and all information required for a correct product application based on the level of mycotoxin contamination in the feed. MYCOMAN® informs about mycotoxin challenges and based on the challenge levels calculates the necessary and effective dosage of Nutriad mycotoxin deactivators product line.
Concluded Nutriad CEO Erik Visser: “The user friendly MYCOMAN® app will complement information obtained after mycotoxin analyses and will instantly help feed and animal producers to manage mycotoxins efficiently and effectively. In recent years Nutriad has consistently invested in product development, research, customer relations and staffing of its Mycotoxin Management product group. We have the ambition to be the best practical expert in the field of mycotoxins and believe that introducing MYCOMAN® is another step towards realizing that ambition”
