According to Avila Cleber Ferreira, director of Programs and Funds Management of Superintendence for the Development of the Midwest (SUDECO), the agency has partnered with the MPA to strengthen the productive chain of aquaculture in the Midwest.
With clusters of aquaculture being deployed in the two valleys, it is believed that 2,000 families will benefit, of which 1,850 in Cuiabá River Valley and the others in the Arinos.
To support the project, a laboratory nursery, feed mill and other improvements will be built.
Fish farming is a great hope for the social and economic livelihoods of 147 000 families in the state.
