Marina Set to be Fish Hatchery

US - An old marina in the South Beaches in Florida has is earmarked to be developed as a new sport fish hatchery.

Hubbs-Sea World Research Institute officials plan to announce the proposed South Beaches hatchery this Saturday at Discovery Cove in Orlando, according to reports in Florida Today.

The hatchery is set for the site where Hubbs had planned to build a major laboratory.

No federal or state money has been allocated thus far to build the hatchery, Florida Today said.

"It's going to be a major investment," said J.B. Kump, spokesman with the Hubbs-SeaWorld Research Institute in Orlando told the newspaper.

Mr Kump said the facility would include other types of research beyond aquaculture and the announcement represents a shift in priorities for Hubbs.
