The Agricultural Attaché to the Consulate of Malta, Mr. Olusegun Mogbojuri who said this at a press conference in Akure on Thursday stated that the institute would be inaugurated by the Honorary Consul of Malta, Mr. Oluwole Lawal, in December, writes Femi Makinde, for Nigeria's Punch website.
According to Mr. Oluwole Lawal, plans are already underway to ensure that the institute is affiliated to the University of Malta .
He stated that Malta, an island country in the Mediterranean Sea south of Sicily, which gained independence from Britain in 1964 was ready to offer its expertise in aquaculture to Nigeria .
The attaché said that the consul would visit Ondo State to discuss on how Malta could assist the state to boost its aquaculture programme.
Mogbojuri who is also the President of the institute noted that the institute would create about 5,000 jobs apart from making the state an exporter of sea and freshwater animals.
