The amount of tilapia exported to the US is predicted to grow, with farmers estimating 21 million pounds by 2014, reports LaTribuna.
Farmer, Orlando Delgado, stated that: "We are working hard so that in 2014, we get to reach a record annual figure of 21 million pounds of tilapia, meaning a 15 per cent growth in exports of this product."
He also stated that more by products, such as, skins, guts, heads and skeletons are being exported to Europe where they are transformed meal and oil for fish feed.
