SalmoBreed has hired Thommy Holmvåg (35) as a key account manager in a bid to strengthen its sales team in Central Norway.

A graduate of the Norwegian Fisheries Hygiene School/UiT in aquaculture, he has held various positions in aquaculture sales, market development and management for the biological analysis company Eurofins Food & Feed Testing. He has also worked as a R&D coordinator for the feed company Skretting ARC, and Cermaq ASA in Steigen.

Thommy Holmvåg previously played football in Norway's second division.

He will be involved in sales of salmon eggs and will be based both in Ålesund and Reisted – the latter being home of SalMar Genetics, a JV involving SalmoBreed and SalMar.

Thommy lives in Ålesund but originally from Steigen, where he still spends a lot of time with family and friends. He is interested in outdoor activities, including fishing, hunting and football – he even played in the Norwegian 2nd Division, back in the days.

"I look forward to working with a skilled team and close to SalmoBreed's customers," said Thommy.

He draws particular attention to the challenge of selling advanced products and solutions tailored to the needs of the individual salmon producer

“Breeding is an incredibly exciting area in aquaculture, and it is in rapid development,” he adds.
