Detroit earmarked for $30 million eel farm
Plans to establish a $30 million eel farm in Detroit have been unveiled by Aqua Vida Aquaculture.
The Florida-based start-up has been working to establish a commercial eel farm in the United States for more than four years, according to the Detroit Free Press.

Company founder, Kit Munday, told the paper that – if they can raise the necessary capital – the facility will produce farm-raised, African longfin eel and American eel for customers in the US, Europe and Asia, using in a recirculating aquaculture system (RAS). The project, he says, could create 25 jobs.
