Thanks to favorable weather conditions, nearly 1,000 fishing vessels out of total 10,000 ones of the province are out at sea in Paracel and Spratly Islands, contributing to the rise in local fish landings, reports VASEP.

In the future, the province will reduce gradually the number of small fishing vessels operating at coastal areas as well as encourage fishermen to upgrade fishing vessels with high capacity and modernize post-harvest preservation system.

The province will use fund from World Bank for upgrading fishing ports and raise the capacity of fisheries logistic services, according to Deputy Director of provincial Department of Agriculture and Rural Development.

With the advantage of owning international airport, the province in coordination with Viet Nam Tuna Association is on the process of establishing a new market for tuna auctions in Hon Ro fishing port.
