Catch Value in 2011 Up 15.4 Per Cent

ICELAND - The total value of catch between January and December 2011 was ISK 153 billion, according to Statistics Iceland.

Total value of catch of Icelandic vessels amounted to ISK 143 billion in 2011, compared with ISK 133 billion in 2010. Total value increased therefore by 15.4 per cent between years.

Total value of demersal species accounted for ISK 95.9 billion; thereof cod ISK 46.4 billion, redfish 15 billion, and haddock 12 billion. Total value of pelagic species accounted for ISK 43.3 billion and flatfish catches for 10.3 billion.
