Liv Holmefjord, Chairperson of The Nor-Fishing Foundation said: "Seafood is one of the things that has made Norway well known internationally."
AquaNor welcomes visitor and exhibitors from over 460 countries this year.
Ms Holmefjord said that AquaNor is one of the most important aquaculture fairs, not just for exhibitors, but also for visitors.
"It is a place where ideas and thoughts can be exchanged.
"Aquaculture is a young industry in Norway. Its development has been like a fairytale, with much change over the last 40 years.
"There is a growing discussion about our future, whether we have reached peak production, or whether we can continue to grow?
"I hope that AquaNor 2011 will give us an opportunity to discuss these issues, and help us develop our aquaculture industry sustainably and with the smallest environmental footprint."
