Gaia Salmon is building a post-smolt production facility at Træna, Norway, with annual capacity of up to 7,200 tonnes.

Aker is invested in offshore aquaculture through SalMar Aker Ocean (SAO). In conjunction with Aker’s direct investment in Gaia Salmon, SAO has signed a non-binding agreement with Gaia Salmon for delivery of post-smolt for offshore salmon farming. The strategic cooperation will improve SAO’s access to post-smolt, which is an enabler for scaling offshore farming operations.

Rodo Landbasert holds approximately 45 percent ownership of Gaia but Aker says it has the right to increase its ownership, related to potential next steps of development in the company.
