Viet Nam's Shrimp Prices on the Up

VIET NAM - Since early 2014, shrimp prices have stayed on high levels and continued to rise in the week from 17-23 Feb 2014.

In Ca Mau province, the price of black tiger shrimp at 20 pieces/kg increased by VND10,000 to VND310,000/kg on 23 February, reports VASEP.

The price of black tiger shrimp sized 30 – 40 pieces/kg was on the range of VND225,000–245,000/kg. These high prices fetch a large profit to farmers.

At the same time, in domestic as well as foreign markets, the price of whiteleg shrimp continued to surge.

Whiteleg shrimp count 100 pieces/kg in the provinces of Bac Lieu, Soc Trang and Ben Tre was quoted at VND113,000 – 115,000; VND1,000 higher than that of the previous week.

The whiteleg shrimp count 60 – 70 pieces/kg fluctuated from VND143,000 to VND150,000/kg.
