NORWAY - The Fisheries and Coastal Affairs Minister, Lisbeth Berg-Hansen, has issued a proposal to raise the roof quota for cod and haddock in the conventional deep-sea fishing fleet from three to five

"Conventional-sea fishing vessels have been struggling with low profitability for several years. Based on an overall assessment, I have arrived at a proposal which can help to reverse this trend," said Ms Berg-Hansen.

The consultation paper asks the Ministry to a limited lifting of the quota for cod and haddock.

The consultation deadline is set for 25 May 2012.
