Aquaculture for all

Polish Fisheries Association Hosts Aquaculture Europe 2008

POLAND - The European Aquaculture Society is organizing its second "new format" Aquaculture Europe event Krakow, Poland in September.

Krakow - location for Aquaculture Europe 2008

The event will bring together a scientific conference and an international trade event that will highlight both Polish and European aquaculture.

The event is being hosted by Polskie Towarzystwo Rybackie (the Polish Fisheries Association).

Aquaculture Europe 2008 is the second Aquaculture Europe event that combines a scientific conference with a trade show.

The interface between these two main features-the industry forum-will be filled by special events, including an industry or farmers day, workshops for industry and the AE2008 student forum.

Various social events will also be a part of the Aquaculture Europe meeting.

The theme of AE2008, Resource Management, addresses the natural, human and material resources for the sustainable development of aquaculture.

The Water Framework Directive (2000/60/E) is the most substantial piece of water legislation ever produced by the European Commission.

It requires that all inland and coastal waters within defined river basin districts must reach at least good status by 2015 and defines how this should be achieved through the establishment of environmental objectives and ecological targets for surface waters. This will be just one focus of AE2008.

TheFishSite will also be present at the exhibition (on Booth 35) where it will be organising a special competition for show visitors.

The exhibition takes place at the Krakow Convention Centre, Targi w Krakowie, Krakow, Poland from 15-18 September.

Registration is available online through the EAS web site, www.easonline.org.
