Now that the regulations of the General Law on Aquaculture are published, regional governments must develop plans that are viable and which will increase aquaculture production in the various regions of the country to ensure the development of the sector, said ADEX.
The chairman of the Committee on Fisheries and Aquaculture of ADEX, Henry Quiroz said it is key that each region of the country enhances its aquaculture production with a vision to integrate the different regional strategies in order to comply with the National Aquaculture Development Plan.
According to the regulations presented on March 25 by the Ministry of Production (Produce), regional governments have one year to submit their Regional Aquaculture Development Plan.
Henry Quiroz said that if regional governments can develop appropriate plans and an improvement is achieved in the professionalization of its producers, in five years Peru can double its production which is currently 100,000 tons per year.
