Between the 5 and 7 August an Executive Board of the Regional Committee of the World Organisation for Animal Health (OIE) met in the capital of Panama to debate strategies for the Americas.
The director of the Department of Animal Health, Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Supply (MAPA) and President of the OIE Regional Commission, Mr Guilherme Marques, discussed with representatives of member countries strategies to be advocated at the global level about what actually impacts each country commercially.
Mr Marques explains that the meeting serves to define the strategic lines for continents and is the global preparatory meeting of the Organisation, which will take place in May in Mexico.
Topics such as animal welfare, eradication of diseases, the OIE elections for all positions, trade issues and strategic positions that each member country could play were discussed.
