Nutrition

The 18th edition of the International Symposium on Fish Nutrition and Feeding (ISFNF) will be held in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, Spain from 3 to 7 June 2018. This ISFNF event will be celebrating more than 40 years of research.

Nutriad is a proud sponsor and organises a mini-symposium on June 7 under the theme “Functional feed additives in aquaculture - How to add more?”

The organisers expect the participation of over 400 delegates from academia as well as prominent aquafeed, ingredients and fish producers. This bi-annual conference reviews the status of fish nutrition research and development, but also pinpoints new frontiers and further research needs in the field of aquaculture nutrition.

The event will cover all aspects of nutritional science, from precise quantification of requirements for specific production performance criteria, assessing the value of novel feed ingredients and additives of nutritional or technological interest. The contributions will stress the importance of nutrition and feeding on health and physiological well-being of aquatic organisms affecting production performance and the quality and safety of farmed seafood. This conference will show how fish nutrition science has taken advantage of the technical advances in nutrigenomics, metabolomics, epigenetics, and big data processing.

Nutriad sponsors ISFNF 2018 and organises a mini-symposium on June 7 titled “Functional feed additives in aquaculture - How to add more?” Alexander van Halteren, Business Development Manager Aquaculture Nutrition for Nutriad, will review the different mode of actions behind the beneficial effects of bovine bile salts for shrimp, including nutritional, digestive and/or metabolic enhancement. Dr. Waldo Nuez-Ortin, Lead Scientist Aquaculture for Nutriad, will present on the role of functional feed additives in disease prevention in aquaculture.

“This mini-symposium provides an excellent opportunity for our partners and customers to learn about current market developments and new findings regarding the application of our functional feed additives for fish and shrimp,” says Dr. Peter Coutteau, Nutriad Business Unit Director Aquaculture.

“Nutriad has a strong focus on bringing innovation to aquaculture producers across the world. Therefore, we continue to invest in people and research and dedicate time to engage with scientists and industry professionals at events like ISFNF and directly in the field, as we convert global knowledge into local solutions,” concluded Nutriad CEO Erik Visser.
