Head of Manjung district’s Department of Fisheries, Mohd Rafi Hasan, said his department would call the three owners and the contractor involved in carrying out deepening works at the river to discuss the issue, reports nstonline.
According to nst online, the head added that following the incident, a team of investigating officers from the Fisheries Research Institute (IPP) in Penang would arrive at the site tomorrow to gather and analyse samples of the water and dead fish, so as to determine the reason for the death of the fishes.
One of the entrepreneurs, Li Si Ding, 60, said he estimated his loses at RM1 million since all the fish at his 77 ponds situated in Kampong Lalang, near here had died.
