Catarina has a MSc in marine biology from Lisbon University, a PhD in animal sciences from Wageningen University and an MBA in global seafood from Norwegian School of Economics. In addition, she has supplementary education in corporate sustainability and other relevant education from Harvard. For the past five years she has worked as group manager of environment and sustainability in Mowi ASA.
“Following Mowi's strategy of being a leading integrated seafood provider and to support our Mowi branding strategy, we have identified a need to strengthen the area of sustainability. Mowi is a company that is living and producing in close cooperation with nature, and our success depends on sustainable and environmentally responsible interactions with the natural environment. A vital part of the CSO's responsibility is to strengthen and implement Mowi's sustainability strategy,” the company explained in a statement issued today.
The company has also implemented a new policy to ensure that their entire group management team is primarily located at the group’s HQ in Bergen, meaning that US-based Glenn Flanders is leaving the team to “spend even more time on investor relations activities in the Americas and Asia”.
