Derek Sharp joins the group as Business Development Manager. His key responsibility will be to develop further opportunities for growth, including new product lines and exploring new markets opoortunities.
Mr Sharp moves to the seafood business from the bakery trade, where he was Senior National Account Manager for Bells Bakers. He has a wealth of sales and marketing experience, particularly with, business growth and promotional strategies.
Ian Hird has been promoted to Facilities Manager. The new post will help steer the group’s increased production. Mr Hird joined SSMG two years ago and was previously group Production Manager.
This post is taken by Laura Harley, who managed continuous improvement, where she helped to reduce waste, improve efficiency, hygiene, record and analyse production.
SSMG Managing Director Donny Gillies said the group was pushing hard to put Scottish shellfish on tables across Europe. The product has an excellent reputation and demand is increasing rapidly, he said.
