Job opportunity: Commercial Director, The Fish Vet Group


Responsible for all aspects of FVG’s commercial activities globally, the Commercial Director translates FVG’s strategy into a commercial plan covering all of FVG’s business activities.

Job Purpose

The Commercial Director strategically maintains and strengthens existing relationships with clients and customers, identifies new opportunities and develops these profitably with the FVG business units and teams at a global and regional level, and works with the Key Accounts and group marketing function to develop synergies across the Benchmark businesses.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop established commercial business plans for FVG business units
  • Lead the building and development of the commercial team function necessary to support the business plans for FVG
  • Sit on the FVG board and contribute to the development and delivery of the FVG strategic plan
  • Coordinate commercial activities across FVG
  • Identify, develop and coordinate new business opportunities for FVG
  • Support and lead the development of applicable teams/employees
  • Develop and monitor the FVG budget & business unit KPIs
  • Develop and manage relationships with customers and suppliers
  • Lead the commercial activities relating to the development of joint ventures, strategic alliances and other key initiatives
  • Responsible for contract proposals and negotiations for accounts involving global clients across multiple regions
  • Presenting and representing FVG at national and international meetings, seminars, exhibitions and workshops

Qualifications and experience

  • Veterinary, biological or microbiological sciences degree
  • Commercial management experience at international level
  • Significant experience in the aquaculture industry (specifically in at least one of the three sectors from salmonids, tilapia or shrimp)

  • Highly autonomous with effective time management abilities
  • Flexible and able to travel nationally and internationally as required

Reports to: FVG Global Managing Director

Direct Reports: Operations Directors/Commercial Managers of all FVG business units

Location: Ideally UK or mainland Europe
