Global Conference on Ocean, Coast and Island

VIET NAM - The fourth global conference on oceans, coasts and islands will be held in Hanoi from 7-11 April, according to the Vietnamese Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD).

The conference, hosted by Vietnam for the first time, will be a good chance for the country’s fisheries workers to exchange experiences with colleagues worldwide, Fisheries Economic Planning Institute Director Nguyen Chu Hoi of the MARD said.

This year’s conference, themed "Advancing ecosystem management and integrated coastal and ocean management by 2010 in the context of climate change," will include 13 workshops and discussions.

To date, more than 500 delegates, including 40 ministers of developing coastal countries, policy makers, ocean, coast and island managers, and scientists have registered to attend the conference.
