Jason Cleaversmith has been appointed General Manager of AKVA group Scotland, at a time when their Scottish operations are being given an important international role.

Jason has a PhD in marine geochemistry from the University of Edinburgh, an MBA from the University of Glasgow and moves into the position from being the Director of Business Development and Operations at the Scottish Aquaculture Innovation Centre (SAIC). Prior to joining SAIC he was the Head of Aqua Health for Novartis on Prince Edward Island, Canada, where he oversaw four facilities, spanning both R&D and manufacturing activities.

He joins at a time of growth for AKVA group Scotland, which now employs over 65 people, and has recently been given responsibility for the bulk of the international firm’s export activities.

“Jason’s operational and business development background will bring great value to AKVA group Scotland, as it continues to develop and thrive with the Scottish industry, as well as allowing us to develop our export business,” says David Thorburn, outgoing GM, who has now moved into his new role as Head of Export.

On being appointed, Jason said: “I’m delighted to be joining the AKVA team at such an exciting time in its evolution. Supporting the Scottish team and the delivery of our strategic objectives will be key, along with ensuring that excellence in customer service and the supply of innovative, high quality products is maintained.”
