EuroTier 2010: 1,700 Exhibitors from 46 Countries

Post-harvest

GERMANY - The top event for expert animal farmers, EuroTier 2010, is being held for the ninth time at the Exhibition Grounds in Hanover from 16 to 19 November 2010.

EuroTier is Europe's most comprehensive information forum for professional animal husbandry. The leading companies in the industry will be presenting a complete programme and be showing many innovations. Up to now 1,700 exhibitors from altogether 46 countries have already booked stands. The non-German contingent in Hanover so far totals 650 exhibitors. The Netherlands top the list once again with 123 companies. A high degree of exhibitor participation is also already evident from France (85), Denmark (49), Italy (48), the United Kingdom (42), China (42), Belgium (39), Spain (38) and Austria (33).

EuroTier Project Manager, Dr Karl Schlösser, explained: "These stand booking figures are at the same high level as they were for the record event two years ago. They thus impressively underline EuroTier's prime position as the world's leading exhibition for professional animal husbandry."

Complete information programme covering all aspects of modern animal husbandry

EuroTier 2010 with its comprehensive information programme covering all aspects of modern animal husbandry will be an indispensable source of information for farmers.

All leading manufacturers and suppliers from the pig and cattle sectors will be represented in Hanover. The range of exhibits in the cattle sector especially is higher than ever before. All the global market leaders in the field of machinery and equipment for milking and cooling are represented. The cattle breeding segment will also make as good showing with the major national and international cattle breeding organisations. Moreover EuroTier 2010 has also registered excellent exhibitor participation for the pig specialist sector. All the renowned companies and organisations from home and abroad will be presenting their products at the Exhibition Grounds in Hanover.

By comparison with previous years, stand bookings also show encouraging growth in the exhibition sectors of feedstuffs, animal health and veterinarian medicines and other farm inputs.

A visit to EuroTier 2010 is a must for professional animal husbandry farmers from Europe. Not only farmers from Germany, but also many of their colleagues from all over Europe will use EuroTier as an outstanding source of information to make themselves fit for the future and gain a head start in the information stakes.

EuroTier – global innovations showcase

EuroTier is the world's innovation showcase for machinery, installations and farm inputs for professional animal husbandry. For years now manufacturers have been orienting their innovation cycles to EuroTier in Hanover and exhibiting their innovations for the international markets there.

An impartial and international Commission of Experts appointed by the DLG will again select EuroTier Innovations on the basis of strict criteria from among the new products submitted by exhibitors and award Gold and Silver Medals. An attractive Innovations Magazine will provide detailed information about the the Gold and Silver Medal winners and at the same time list all the products submitted to the DLG for EuroTier and satisfying the innovations criteria. The EuroTier Innovations Magazine thus offers an outstanding overview of the range of innovations on the market for the year 2011 and provides an outlook covering developments in the individual segments of professional animal husbandry. The Innovations Magazine is published at the end of October as a supplement of the DLG magazine, 'DLG-Mitteilungen'. Visitors to the exhibition can pick up a copy free of charge at the DLG stands at EuroTier. An Innovations Magazine is also being produced for the international experts. It will be published in English by the DLG in cooperation with a leading Dutch publisher under the title 'EuroTier Innovations'. This magazine too will be available free of charge at the exhibition. The List of Innovations with details of all new products classified as company innovations and those selected as Gold and Silver Medal winners will also be posted on the Internet [click here] from the beginning of October. The innovations will be presented in detail with text and picture contributions in a number of different languages.

Spotlight on top genetics in cattle breeding – Daily presentations at the 'TopTierTreff' – presentation of top cattle

The key prerequisites for forward-looking dairy cattle farming include robust cows that live to a good age. That is why cattle genetics are becoming increasingly important. This year too, EuroTier will provide a unique overview of top cattle breeding genetics in Europe. Some 50 leading German and international breeding organisations and companies will be presenting their daughter animals at the TopTierTreff in Hall 27. They will be making use of this unique platform to display their top genetics to a top-flight international expert public. TopTierTreff will therefore once again be one of the magnetic draws for cattle farmers from home and abroad. Presentations will be held daily in German and at certain times in English and Russian too. The best progeny from all dairy and meat breeds will be shown.

Special on Dairy Cow Fertility

Fertility of dairy cattle is a pivotal issue for international dairy farmers and a crucial foundation for successful milk production. Alongside udder and hoof complaints, fertility problems are the most significant reason for disposing of and replacing dairy cattle. Optimised fertility management is an exceptionally important factor for farm profitability. Around the time of calving, about 50 days before and 50 days after calving, dairy cattle must master enormous challenges that are connected in particular with phases of extreme physiological adaptation and stress. Together with faculties of Veterinary Medicine, advisory organisations and exhibitors at EuroTier, the DLG will devote a Special to this topic for the visitors to the exhibition on a floor space of 570 square metres. This will give the international cattle farmers an excellent opportunity to gather information about the knowledge and options currently available for optimising dairy cow fertility.

Special 'Sow well-being – in group housing' will send signals

From 1 January 2013, all pregnant sows in the EU must be kept in groups. That is why sow farmers have a great need for investments and information in the intervening period. New buildings already have to satisfy the new requirements made of sow keeping. BFL, an organisation devoted to promoting agricultural building construction and optimising livestock management conditions (Bauförderung Landwirtschaft) is joining the DLG in addressing this topical issue and will be showing various solutions for the new management methods in a Special 'Sow well-being – in group housing' on a 500 square metres of exhibition stand at EuroTier 2010. Acknowledged experts will be available at the event to answer visitors' questions. With this outstanding information forum, the Special will set signals and be highly welcomed by international sow farmers.

Poultry husbandry – feeding, climate control, animal health and bioenergy in focus

As, in agreement with the international poultry industry, the next World Poultry Show within EuroTier will only be held again in 2012, relatively cautious participation by poultry exhibitors is expected this year. At EuroTier 2010, poultry farmers will find information above all in the cross-sectoral segments of feeding, climate control, animal health and bioenergy.

Aquaculture – growth in water has a future

Aquaculture is a fixed component of EuroTier. It will once again be the focus of interest for many expert visitors from inside and outside Germany at EuroTier 2010. Leading technology and outfitting companies as well as many other suppliers and institutions from the fields of aquaculture, mariculture, inland fisheries and environmental engineering will be represented. Exploiting biomass from the water and substance or material cycles will be forward-looking themes at EuroTier 2010. The latest developments in these fields will be presented, including for the first time algae breeding and possible uses.

BioEnergy Decentral arouses great interest

Brisk exhibitor interest has also been noted in BioEnergy Decentral, running parallel with EuroTier. This new exhibition caters to the growing interest that agriculture is showing in this new line of business. Renewable energy sources and here in particular bioenergy will play an ever greater role in the intelligent mix of available energy resources. The energy industry, agriculture and forestry, municipalities and industrial enterprises, as well as plant and installation builders are ideal partners in these business models. The public utilities are increasingly seeking partners in rural areas to generate and keep added value locally. Synergistic effects resulting from focusing on the core competence of the partners can be exploited here. Forms of cooperation ranging from supply of the raw materials to distribution of the energy produced from them are conceivable. This generates great interest among farmers and forest managers. For instance many farm operators of biogas facilities are seeking cooperation with public utility companies. Key areas of the BioEnergy Decentral exhibition programme include the thematic areas of biogas with slurry and energy plants, as well as wood, energy grain and biofuels. Some 400 exhibitors from these fields will be presenting their innovations and further developments. As a global forum for decentralised energy supply, BioEnergy Decentral brings the various segments and market partners together. With its excellent display of products and services it will present a unique market place for information on all aspects of bioenergy partnerships.

bpt-Congress being held concurrently with EuroTier again

Following the successful premiere in 2008, the German Association of Veterinary Practitioners (Bundesverband Praktizierender Tierärzte – bpt) will be holding its annual congress and associated Veterinarian Medicine Exhibition overlapping with EuroTier at the Exhibition Grounds in Hannover again in 2010.

An International Animal Health Event organised jointly by the DLG and bpt will serve the veterinarians from all over the world as meeting place and contact forum, as well as creating a link between EuroTier and the bpt-Congress.

Forum addressing the future of professional animal husbandry

EuroTier is the most important forum addressing the future of professional animal husbandry. This is where traditionally both trends in machinery, equipment and installations are shown and all important questions relating to modern animal husbandry and animal breeding are tackled. Together with partners from the fields of business, academia and research, consultancy, trade associations and organisations, the DLG will be presenting an extensive technical programme to complement the stand displays of the exhibitors again this year.

The programme includes international conferences and events, as well as separate forum platforms for the leading animal species addressing current trends and important developments in the specific sector. For example the EuroTier Pig Event, the EuroTier Dairy Event and the International Poultry Event being held in the Convention Center (CC) on 15 November 2010, the eve of the exhibition opening, will be the place-to-be for international top farmers. These events are important contact and information forums. Top-flight speakers will take a stand on topical issues and thus signpost the way to the future. There will also be an international panel discussion for the poultry industry on the same day. In addition, the Central Association of German Poultry Producers (Zentralverband der Deutschen Geflügelwirtschaft, ZDG) will be holding its annual general meeting at the Convention Center (CC) in the Exhibition Grounds in Hanover on 15 November 2010.

Current questions relating to animal husbandry will be on the agenda at an Eastern Europe Conference on the second day of the exhibition, 17 November 2010. Also on 17 November 2010, a Chinese-European conference will be devoted to pig husbandry.

In addition to these events, there will be separate forum platforms for the main animal species each day during the exhibition at which representatives from academia and research, consultancy, industry and practical farming will discuss current trends and important developments in areas of interest to the specific sector.

There will also be a Young Farmers Day at EuroTier 2010 too for young farmers and students of agriculture from home and abroad. Alongside the visit to EuroTier on 17 November 2010, the programme includes a job forum, a congress addressing the future, and platforms for getting to know each other and share experiences, not to forget the highlight of the day – the Young Farmers Party.
