China Celebrates Successful Fishery Administration

Politics

CHINA - On May 10, the meeting to commemorate the tenth anniversary of Fishery Administration Commanding Center was held in Beijing.

Set up in May 2000, the Fishery Administration Commanding Centre aims to enhance co-ordination of national fishery law enforcement when adapting to major changes to international marine management policies.

In the past decade, the center has achieved great progress in terms of law enforcement, implementing bilateral and multilateral fishery agreements, management of safe production, and resources conservation.

In the Minister of Agriculture's congratulatory message, Han Changfu said that China was a fishery power, with major responsibilities of fishery administration and arduous tasks. The Center should further implement the Scientific Development Concept, improve fishery administration, speed up modern fishery industry, and make a greater contribution to safeguarding the interests and rights of our marine territory and fishermen.

Vice Minister Niu Dun commended the Center for its achievement in the past decade. He stressed that the Center should make efforts to become the leader of the fishery administration system; honour its duties and responsibilities; safeguard fishery ecological security, safe production and quality and safety of aquatic products; and scale up the input in fishery administration.
