Catfish Feed Deliveries April 2011

US - The recent report from the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA)has highlighted that catfish feed deliveries for April 2011 were down by 25 per cent from last year.

Total catfish feed delivered in the US during April 2011 was 30,308 tons, down 25 per cent from April 2010, but up 65 per cent from the previous month. Foodsize catfish feed delivered totaled 29,131 tons, down 24 per cent from the corresponding month a year ago. Feed delivered for fingerlings and broodfish totaled 1,177 tons, down 43 per cent from the corresponding month a year ago.

April feed delivered to Mississippi catfish growers for foodsize fish totaled 12,757 tons, down 26 per cent from last year. Mississippi accounted for 44 per cent of the total foodsize catfish feed delivered to US farmers.

The other major States with catfish feed deliveries for foodsize fish in April and their comparison to the previous year were Alabama with 10,192, down 18 per cent; Arkansas with 2,548 tons, down 38 per cent; and Louisiana with 348 tons, down 38 per cent.
