AKVA lands Russian smolt plant contract

AKVA announced today that it has won a tender for delivery of a new smolt facility to Russian Aquaculture, near Murmansk.

The estimated value of the deal, which was awarded to AKVA group Denmark A/S, a wholly owned subsidiary of AKVA group ASA, is €11.9 million, although the final contract is not yet concluded and is subject to financing and regulatory approvals in Russia.

Deliveries of equipment to the Russian Aquaculture facility are expected to commence in Q2 2020. The Moscow-based company sees the deal as an important step towards achieving its strategic goal of producing up to 25,000 to 30,000 tonnes of salmonids by 2025.
