Politics

NORWAY - SalMar ASA's board of directors has appointed Yngve Myhre as the new CEO. Mr Myhre has long experience from a number of companies within fishery, aquaculture and processing. He will assume the position from June 6, 2011.

"I am very pleased with the appointment of Yngve Myhre. He has long experience and great expertise from the seafood industry and he will contribute to further develop the strong position SalMar has achieved as an industry leading salmon farming company", says Bjørn Flatgård, Chairman of SalMar ASA.

Mr Myhre (41) has extensive experience from the seafood industry; he was the CEO of Aker Seafoods ASA from 2001 to 2010 and has previously been the CEO of the salmon farming company Nova Sea AS where he currently serves as Chairman. Mr Myhre has also served as a member of the Board of Directors at Norway Royal Salmon AS and holds a number of other similar roles in the Norwegian seafood industry. Coming from the position of partner in Fazenda Securities AS, Mr Myhre also holds a Master of Science in Business from Bodø Graduate School of Business.

Mr Myhre succeeds Leif Inge Nordhammer who informed the board of directors in October last year that he would like to step down after having served 15 years as the CEO of SalMar.

"The seafood industry has always been close to my heart. When I got this opportunity to take on the position as CEO of one of the industry's leading companies, it was an offer I could not refuse. I look forward to get started and to learn more about the business and its people", says Yngve Myhre.
