Vietnamese Aquaculture Production Up 4.9 per cent

VIET NAM - According to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, aquaculture production in September 2014 reached 372 thousand MT, up 15.9 per cent year on year, bringing accumulated aquaculture production to 2,491 thousand MT, up 4.9 per cent year on year.

Pangasius farming area in Mekong Delta was 7,000 hectares with the production of 757 thousand MT, reports VASEP.

As reported by Departments of Agriculture and Rural Development in Dong Mekong Delta, pangasius production reduced compared to the same period last year, due to lower price for pangasius.

Meanwhile, as reported by Departments of Agriculture and Rural Development in Mekong Delta, black tiger shrimp production remained stable in September, compared to the previous month.
