In the first eight months of 2013, Viet Nam sold its tuna to 90 markets, expanding more 10 markets over 2012, reports VASEP.

However, during the same period, tuna exports decreased 4.6 per cent from that of the same period of 2012.

The decline was attributable to the sharp downturn in tuna exports to the two main markets (the US and Japan).

Exports of canned tuna and other processed tuna products saw a positive growth, but they failed to compensate for the decline in sales of frozen/fresh tuna.
