The Secretary of Agriculture, Livestock, Rural Development, Fisheries and Food, Enrique Martínez y Martínez, said the investment by several companies into the tuna sector of 2,275 million pesos allowed for the acquisition of a fleet that will add to the productive activities of the country and account for about 10,000 jobs, directly and indirectly.
The first of the seven vessels will be operational in March in the state of Colima.
The production of Mexican tuna (which annually exceeds 130,000 tons) will be used primarily for consumption throughout the country.
