Rainbow Trout to be Farmed in Manitoba

CANADA - The Federal and Provincial governments are going to try to make fish farming in Manitoba work.

According to CJOB, a 1.1 million dollar project is in the works for Riddell's Roasters of Warren owned by Rudy and Leslie Reimer.

They're stocking their farm with rainbow trout which is not currently harvested commercially in Manitoba. The farm is expected to produce about 100 tonnes of fish a year. Manitoba's agriculture Minister Rosann Wowchuck says aquaculture is the fastest growing food production industry in the world.
