Quota Increase of 4,019 Tonnes for Northern Hake

SPAIN - Spain has increased the quota for northern hake by 4,019 tonnes.

This is an increase of 26 per cent on the Spanish payment for 2013.

This decision is the result of intensive efforts made by Spain in the light of the latest scientific developments.

This increase will allow the resumption of activity to almost all vessels for northern hake fishing.

Carlos Dominguez estimated an economic boost of more than 24 million euros

The Secretary General of Fisheries, Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Environment, Carlos Dominguez, expressed the Government's satisfaction with the decision of the Committee of Permanent Representatives of the European Union (COREPER) to authorize an increase in the Total Allowable Catch (TAC ) Community of Northern Hake fishery.
