Nueva Vizcaya Farmers Receive Free Tilapia Fingerlings

PHILIPPINES - At least 220 farmers in this town recently received free tilapia fingerlings from the local government unit, Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) and Provincial Agriculture Office (PAO).

“This assistance aims to augment the income of our farmers by way of propagating more of their fish products,” said Denia Fragata, municipal agriculturist.

Ms Fragata said 200,000 free fingerlings were distributed to the recipient farmers who came from the 22 barangays of this town.

She said the assistance will continue throughout the year inorder to sustain the income of farmers and to increase fish supply in the province.

According to Fragata, free 1,500,000 tilapia fingerlings were also given to 425 farmers last year which were dispersed to the 18,000 hectare fish ponds of Aritao town.
