Despite this growth, the demand for fish in the coming decades will still exceed the supply.
The independent Aquatic Asia 2011 trade show in Thailand will act as the biennial meeting point in Asia-Pacific for buyers and suppliers in the booming aquaculture market. The event will take place at BITEC, Bangkok from 9 to 11 March.
Aquatic Asia 2011 is organised in co-location with VIV Asia 2011, offering visitors a unique opportunity to meet key contacts in aquaculture only or with a joint interest in aquaculture, poultry and pigs.
The concept of Aquatic Asia also involves the related activities of mariculture and capture-based aquaculture. Visitors who register to attend one of the trade fairs can also visit the other trade event.
Specific Segment
During Aquatic Asia 2011 the entire range in the field of aquaculture will be brought together and clearly structured at a dedicated exhibition for the complete production column from feed to fish.
This brand new event for the Asian aquaculture industries includes research & development, production, packaging and marketing of four main categories for aquaculture, fish, molluscs, crustaceans and algae. The compact, but substantively strong, exhibition targets a niche that has not yet been presented in a similar trade fair concept in Asia.
Aquatic Asia is a separate event, which originated from the special theme Aqua VIV Asia during VIV Asia 2009. At this edition of the VIV 13.5% of the visitors were specialised in aquaculture.
This amounts to 3,000 professionals, including the top of the major integrators under whose name the entire chain has been brought together. Two years ago, the aqua segment at VIV Asia numbered a handful of dedicated exhibitors.
This offering has been expanded in 2011 and better matches the requirements and wishes of the visitors.
Practically Doubled
With two months still to go, 25 high quality and leading suppliers of feed, animal health, feed ingredients and additives have already booked stand space.
Covering an area of almost 400m², double that of the previous edition, this high-end trade fair can already stand the comparison with leading events elsewhere in the world. The organisers aim to bring these aquaculture suppliers in contact with 5,000 trade visitors.
The exhibitor number does not include the more than 150 suppliers at VIV Asia 2011 who will also exhibit some of their products for aquaculture. VIV Asia has a total of 650 exhibitors.
Feed Ingredients
The focus in aquaculture is on feed and feed ingredients, which account for two thirds of the total production costs. Suppliers of feed, feed ingredients and animal health will be presenting their companies at Aquatic Asia 2011.
Large specialised international suppliers, such as the aquaculture division of Intervet International, Novus International Thailand, Addcon and DSM Nutritional Products will be present at Aquatic Asia 2011.
As the major feed milling equipment manufacturers will be presenting their products at VIV Asia 2011 in the Feedtech-Croptech pavilion, feed mill companies in the aqua feed sector will also be interested in visiting both events.
The range of ingredients and tailor made equipment that will be on display is essential for visitors to achieve animal friendly and economical methods of fish farming.
Conference Programme
Aquatic Asia has teamed up with experts from the industry to guarantee an extensive range of informative topics to be discussed during a conference programme on the first two days of Aquatic Asia.
On March 9 Novus International Thailand will be hosting a conference focusing on Disease Management – a Nutritional Prospective.
On March 10 Bayer Thai Company will be organising a conference entitled Culture Quality Sea Food from Asia. During all three days of the trade fair, visitors can visit the seminar room in the foyer between halls 2 and 3 for aquaculture seminars given by exhibitors.
