NOAA Fisheries has determined the 2013 annual catch limit of 208,000 pounds of hogfish has been harvested. This closure is necessary to protect the hogfish resource.
During the closure:
- Commercial and recreational harvest or possession of hogfish is prohibited.
- The closure applies in both state and federal waters for vessels that have a valid Gulf of Mexico reef fish charter/headboat permit or commercial reef fish permit.
