COLOMBIA - The Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Juan Camilo Restrepo Salazar, has established an ambitious programme designed to support the fishermen of San Andres and Providencia who are affected by the ruling of the International Court of Justice on the changes of the maritime boundary with Nicaragua.

The minister said the ruling has an impact on fishing in the archipelago.

"Many native and ancestral fishing companies that work there, fall within the jurisdiction granted by the Court to Nicaragua, which is a concern," said Restrepo Salazar.

He informed that the government is preparing a major programme to support artisanal fishing.
