The Technical Cooperation Agreement sets out the implementation of actions to improve the authorisation and supervision of fishery imports and exports and gives better control over the movement of fishery resources in the country.
The agreement also favours the establishment of control programmes and eradication of diseases of aquatic animals and monitoring and control of residues and contaminants in production systems.
The amendment will allow the cooperation agreement, valid for four years, to be extended for another four years, valid until 2018.
The partnership also allows for the harmonization of fisheries health and aquaculture procedures and strengthens the Brazilian Official Veterinary Office (SVO).
