Fisheries Minister Promotes Consumption of Lionfish

VENEZUELA - The Deputy Minister of Fisheries and Aquaculture, Yenry Urrea, has stressed the need to dismantle the myth that surrounds the consumption of lionfish, which is healthy and safe to eat.

"The meat of this fish can be safely consumed, you just have to be careful in handling prior to removal of the thorns," he said.

"With this good meat dishes are prepared as those who have developed the chef group of inns Roques" he said.

By promoting the fishing and consumption of lionfish, it will allow the control of this invasive species, which does not have a predator to control it."
