Decision Due on Conservation Policy

The Washington Fish and Wildlife Commission is to decide on a new policy addressing conservation and recovery of wild salmon and steelhead populations this weekend.

The proposed policy calls for coordinated reform of the state’s approach to harvest management and its hatchery operations based on the recommendations of the Hatchery Scientific Review Group.

The commission will review progress in its search for a new director for the Department of Fish and Wildlife during a meeting today and tomorrow (Saturday).
