The new Royal Decree relaxes the conditions on the construction of new fishing vessels within the framework of community law and national law on the restructuring of the fishing fleet.
The aim is to increase construction activity in the fisheries sector, while respecting the framework of the appropriate fleet size for Spain. By taking these measures, the government hope to revive the fishing industry.

Conditions Relaxed for Construction of Fishing Vessels
SPAIN - The Council of Minsters has approved a Royal Decree (RD) amending the current regulations on fisheries management and adaptation to the European Fisheries Fund. The RD relaxes the conditions related to the construction and modernization of vessels, for vessel owners and fishing companies to make the investments required for this purpose.
