The first phase of the Qurun Aquapolis Project will see a farm of 500 hectares built.
The integrated farm will be a combination of farm and township, which is named Aquapolis.
This farm will be a self-contained facility with a desalination plant, processing plant, cold storage, waste water treatment, incinerator plant for rubbish, feed mills, hatchery for shrimp and sea cucumber, staff housing, executive housing, administrative center, social facilities, sport center, religious facilities, and other supporting amenities.
This farm will operate to transfer high tech aquaculture technology within five years.
Produce will be processed and exported to the GCC, EU, and Japan.
The farm expects to produce around 4,000 metric tons of shrimp and 2,000 metric tons of wet sea cucumber annually.
An EPC contract has now been signed between the parties involved.
