University Workshop Targets New Directions for Aquaculture

INDIA - A workshop focusing on new directions and dimensions in aquaculture and fisheries research is planned by the Adikavi Nannaya University (ANU), in Mumbai on 18 and 19 February 2008.

Organsied in association with the Central Institute of Fisheries Education (CIFE),the Central Institute of Freshwater Aquaculture (CIFA) of Bhubaneswar and State Institute of Fisheries Technology (SIFT), Kakinada, will also take part in the two-day workshop

Vice-Chancellor Kandula Nirupa Rani said ANU would focus research in aquaculture with the aim of promoting shrimp farming in the region.

Speaking to the NewIndPress, she said that the university planned to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with CIFE as part of the initiative.

ANU is considering the introduction of integrated courses in MSc Petroleum Exploration, MSc Biotechnology and Microbiology and MSc Economics and Mathematics. Each would have a five-year term. It also has plans for a one year PG Diploma in Aquaculture this year.
